Pharma packshots and medical product photography
Packshots and product photography for every kind of medical and pharmaceutical product, from hospital and operating room supplies to medicines, in our studio in Belgium.
In medical and pharma work, a photo has to be right before it can be anything else. A connector that looks slightly off, a label you can't read or a pack in the wrong colour ends up in a catalogue, on a training slide or on a product sheet. Studio Ballena shoots medical packshots for print, digital and packaging, made to be accurate and to fit the regulatory and packaging material you already have.
The gallery below includes work for Halyard, Avanos, Boehringer Ingelheim and Loën Labs. For packshots of other products, see our main packshots page. New to the term? Start with what a packshot is.
Medical devices and hospital supplies
Hospitals and operating rooms run on thousands of products: single use consumables, reusable instruments, trays, drapes and kits. Many are small, white or clear, and easy to confuse with the next model in a range. Medical device photography has one job here: let the buyer, the nurse or the distributor tell them apart at a glance, with every part in frame and every connector readable.
A range gets one look, the same angle and the same scale from the first product to the last, so the catalogue reads as one family. Why that matters on a product page is in our guide on what a product page needs from its packshots.
Protective wear and products used on the body
Protective wear, and anything worn or used on the body, is chosen on how it fits. On a model, the photos show fit and coverage for catalogues and training. On their own on white, they show the product itself for the webshop and the product sheet. Many ranges need both.
Pharmaceutical product photography and animal health
For medicines, supplements and animal health products, the pack is what people recognise, at the pharmacy, at the vet or online. The photos keep the text, the colours and the proportions of every pack true, and keep a range sold in several sizes in the right scale against each other. Point of sale material gets the same care.
Instruction and explainer film
Some things are easier to show than to write down: how a product is assembled or used, or what the symbols on a pack mean. A short film does that for training and for the people using the product. How a project runs, from brief to delivery, is on our photo and video production page.

Pharma and medical packshot questions
Do the products come to the studio, or can you shoot on location?
Usually they come to us. A delivery truck can pull up on our driveway and unload straight into the studio through the sectional door. Packshots on location are possible when a product can't travel, but the studio is where the light is most consistent and the work goes fastest, so that's what we recommend.
Can products be photographed on a model?
Yes. Protective wear and products used on the body can be shot on a model, and the same products on their own on white, in one production.
Can products added later match the existing range?
Yes, when we shot the range. The camera and light settings are written down for each view, so a product added next year is shot the same way.
Need pharma or medical packshots?
Tell us the products, how many there are and where the images will be used. We'll come back with how we'd shoot the range.
