Studio and equipment

A 180m² studio near Brussels, built for tabletop. Two sets running in parallel, an infinity cove, and the cameras, lighting and rigging already in the building.

Most studio hire is a room and a power supply. This one was built around the work we do in it: food, drinks and product, shot close, lit precisely, often with liquids or effects involved. That shows up in small things. A food prep area that isn't a corner of the shooting floor. Blackout so a set holds its look at four in the afternoon. Enough floor to build the next set while the current one is still up.

The studio is used for our own productions and available to hire, with or without crew.

The space

  • 180m² floor, laid out for two sets running at once
Ceiling height of almost 4 meters
A 9 by 4 meter infinity cove, wide enough to run two setups side by side against itFull blackout, so lighting holds whatever the weather is doing outside
A dedicated food prep and styling area, separate from the shooting floor
Industrial sectional door with 3.6m clearance for deliveries, set builds and truck access
Client area with screens, fast Wi-Fi, charging, music, fresh drinks and decent coffee

Parking is outside the door. Denderleeuw station is a few minutes away with direct trains to Brussels and Ghent, and we can arrange transport from a station or airport for teams coming in from out of town. Full directions are on the contact page.

Cameras

Different jobs want different sensors, so the studio carries both stills and video systems rather than compromising with one.

  • Phase One IQ4 150MP medium format with Schneider Kreuznach Blue Ring lenses, for stills where texture and detail carry the shot
  • Sinar P3 technical camera with Sinaron HR lenses and eShutter, for perspective control and stacked focus on product
  • Nikon Z9 for faster-moving stills work
  • 8K RED V-Raptor X for video
  • 5K Freefly Ember S5K for high-speed: pours, splashes, ingredient drops and anything that happens too quickly to see

Every one of these is also available to hire, with lenses listed separately.

Lighting

Flash for stills, continuous LED for video and motion control. The two don't mix on a shoot: flash can't light a moving camera pass, and LED doesn't freeze a splash the way a flash duration does.

Broncolor and ProFoto flash systems for stills
Aputure LED for video and motion control: three 600D, a 600C for full colour, and two STORM 1200x as well as an Infinimat 4x2
A large modifier library: softboxes, scrims, diffusion, beams, reflectors and spill control

Precision flags and grip for shaping highlights and shadow on small subjects

Lighting is also available to hire.

Motion control and effects rigs

Ernie is a Camerabotics CRX1440 motion control robot: 1440mm reach, 11kg payload, moves up to 3 m/s, repeatable to ±0.04mm. It runs on 230V or battery and it's small enough for standard doors and most lifts, so it travels. It's video kit and it always works with an operator.

Alongside it we build our own effects rigs, and they trigger from the same timeline as the camera move, so a drop lands on the same frame every take: droppers (gripping, tube slot and iris), a liquid drip system, a turntable, a product rotator, a conveyor belt and a launch table.

More on the motion control service, or day rates for hiring the rig with an operator.

Surfaces, props and grip

A background surface and texture library built up over fifteen years
Grip and rigging for holding product exactly where it needs to be

Food styling materials and props on site

If a job needs something we don't own, we source or hire it in rather than talk you into what's already here.

Come and see it

The fastest way to know whether the studio fits your production is to stand in it. Visits are welcome before you book anything, and if motion control is part of what you're considering we'll set the robot up and run a short demo while you're here.
